96” x 48” Original Drawing using:
Charcoal, Soft + Oil Pastel on Wood
The Iconoclasts title is used in reference to the role dissidents have played throughout history, the questioning and destruction of the status quo that ultimately drives progress for both good and ill. Every generation has a certain group of people that steadfastly hold on to tradition, while another group challenges those traditions . This has happened across all cultures as long as “we” have recorded history. I was thinking about both the dissenters and the conformists and how they have always been and will continue to be at odds. Which ultimately puts societies in a perpetual state of flux. Anyway, that’s what my brain was thinking about while my hand was putting charcoal on wood.
